of JOSHTILE

Each Joshtile contains both positive and negative "points of reference", together the positive and negative points combine to form the Joshtile. On a typical Joshtile, the exact center point and four corners of the tile are typically the positive points of reference. The negative points of reference are the surounding points dissimilar yet peripheral to the center.

Joshtile is an ornate tile with unique style, and symmetrical properties. When a Joshtile is arranged with identical copies in an array, a self-repeating pattern emerges.

What are the properties of a Joshtile?

Aesthetically pleasing construction materials

From ceramic to plaster, from vinyl to stone; Joshtile is set to renovate the way we think about tiling. The aesthetics of a project is the most often noticed by the bystander after completion, while most often underlooked by the typical builder during the process of inital design. This artist sees many of construction materials we use today as a blank canvas waiting to be reimagined.

My Inspiration

This artists aim with the creation of Joshtile was to introduce a digital/physical representation of an imagined module of the felt presence of immediate experience.

In other words, the Joshtile has no meaning in and of itself, but maintains the simple purpose of bringing the viewer closer to the present moment, inducing a feeling of calmness, serenity and enhanced focus.
